Driving In The Rain

Jul 04, 2016

It’s the rainy season again and we all know that driving in wet conditions is always harder.
Here are some tips to help you survive the rainy season on the road:
Before you drive:
1.      Check the wear and tear of your tires. Tires should have more than 2/32-inch tread depth. Worn out tires may cause your tires to skid or even blow out.
2.      Check your tire inflation, recommended psi is normally found in the car’s manual or the driver\s door/doorjamb.
3.      Check your wiper blades.
4.      Clean the inside of your window.
On the road:
1.      Turn on your headlights.
2.      During heavy downpour and visibility is poor turn on your hazard lights so incoming vehicle will see your car. In the event you cannot see anything at all STOP on the side and wait for the heavy downpour to stop.
3.      Slow down.  Give extra room from the car in front of you in case you need to make a sudden stop.
4.      In case you hydroplane, do not panic .  Never press brakes abruptly when you are skidding. Look straight and follow the path you are taking.
